Mitigating Climate Change

Getting it right, means asking questions such as:

  • How can we set achievable targets?

  • How can we balance the costs and benefits?

  • What is the impact on our competitiveness and economy?

  • How can we ensure our plan is just and equitable?

We work with municipalities, community groups and stakeholders to answer these questions and develop pragmatic plans to reduce GHG emissions based on the best evidence.

Economic analysis of GHG reduction plans

Read more about how we supported the City of Leduc develop its Local Action Plan for GHG Emission Reduction by providing the evidence base to inform the setting of cost-effective corporate and community targets for 2030 and the selection of actions to achieve those targets.

Just and equitable low carbon transition

We helped the City of Edmonton understand a "just and equitable transition" to a low-carbon future, highlighting key potential injustices of decarbonization for Edmonton, and proposing principles and an initial set of recommended actions to ensure a just and equitable transition for all.

Property price premiums for energy efficient homes

We helped the City of Edmonton evaluate its “Know Our Homes YEG” voluntary home labelling program by assessing the extent to which energy efficiency-related words in marketing materials for homes resulted in a selling price premium and shortened listing durations.
